Drs. Nathaniel and Clara Ching celebrated the wedding of Natascha to Joseph Del Rosario. Natascha and Joe were married on July 31, 2010, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Honolulu. The afternoon wedding was followed by a formal tea ceremony in the Regency room of the Royal Hawaiian hotel and a celebration and dinner at the hotel for the wedding party and their guests. Approximately 250 family and friends of the couple witnessed the release of doves and the traditional burning of firecrackers as the couple entered the outdoor courtyard of the Royal Hawaiian. This was soon followed by the celebratory good luck Chinese Lion dance during the cocktail and hors d'oeuvres hour.
The buffet reception dinner was held in the Monarch room which provided an ideal setting for the night's events including family introductions and speeches, video presentations, and the cake-cutting and garter rituals (departing from tradition, Natascha presented her bridal bouquet to her mother instead of tossing it to marriage hopefuls.) Adding to the delicious buffet offerings were desserts that included Cream Brulee, a mango-berry cobbler, chocolate mousse in a miniature cocktail glass, and assorted cakes. Guest table favors were Top Flite golf balls imprinted with the wedding date. The beautiful table centerpieces were given to the couple whose wedding anniversary was closest to the wedding date.
Natascha previously resided in Los Angeles, California, where she was physician of the UCLA Health System, specializing in pediatric infectious diseases. Joe hails from Austin, Texas, where he is a computer network engineer. Many of the guests were fellow University of Texas Longhorns and friends of the couple who traveled from Texas, New Jersey, Las Vegas, Germany and Japan for the wedding. How the couple met and how their relationship developed was the subject of the many speeches that were given by members of the wedding party. The videography was excellent, even edited at the last minute to include the church ceremony as well as the Chinese lion dance on the hotel lawn during cocktail hour as was shown to the reception attendees.
The church ceremony and tea ceremony were attended by Sandra Jean and Roger who were unable to attend the reception due to a prior engagement. Representing the Ching cousins at the reception were Russell and Candace, Jeffrey and daughter Renee, Kanani and Wesley, and Addison and Sharon.
The couple will reside in Austin, TX.
